Conakry April 2004

Greeting from Conakry, we are entering in the raining season. The roads are very bad but you get the chance to eat many fruit. One important news in Guinea today is that the Christian Premier minister run away form the government of Conte, the country does not have any Premier Minister now.

In Conakry We had a good time with Pastor Chuck and is team that came to train the locale pastor of Guinea. During that conference Pain Vie Conakry had some opportunities with the locale Church in Conakry. One of objective of a great commission business is to show people, that believers need to run their business with Godly principals. I had a meeting with some local pastors to start that process. First, a local pastor will identify potential businessmen in the Church. Second, we will have a meeting to understand the problems of a Christian business in Guinea. Third we are hoping to find basic materiel of teaching for a Christian in business especially in a Muslim country. Inflation in Guinea is very high, and Christians in Guinea are with out jobs. The lock of jobs is exposing Church leader to have problems with financial accountability.

Pain de Vie deliver 4000 loaves of bread every month to PFI Guinea. Pain de Vie kiosks in partnership with PFI GUINEA have had some difficulties to run, to resolve that problem Pain de Vie Conakry is proposing to take back full control of the management of the kiosks and on those that will like to sale in the kiosk. We will pay workers 50 percent salary 50 percent commission.

We are in discussion with a local orphan center that is run by some Christians, the center help about 50 orphans. The need of the orphanage is 50 loaves of bread a day they will like more then just bread they will like help with a full meal.

Bakery and operation

Raining season is good for those who sales fruits, but note for those that sale breads. We are note in a good season to sale bread these days.

  1. In fruit season like mango people prefer to eat mango that they can get for free.
  2. When it is raining wholesale lady's sale less bread they do not have protection against the rain
  3. Flour cost is not going down
  4. Another problem with the bakery this days is electricity problem, in Guinea when a business start doing well in the community you get people on your back, our cost on electricity will need to go up a lot, the ovens that came from the USA take too much electricity. We need to pray for that.

Solution

To come out of this difficulties we will need to invest on the kiosks and work on opening very small sales point in the city, distribution at this time is the way to help us pass this difficult period. One other way to help us pass this moments is to import our own ingredients.

Praise Report

Sarata and the kids will be Conakry the 18 th of May.

Prayer Points
